Celeriac Velouté with Smoked Goose & Croûtons
Not everyone's feeling the pinch, eh?
With George Osborne's Autumn Statement coming tomorrow, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Conservative Party might be on its best behaviour when it comes to practicing the austerity it preaches.
But on Wednesday, the University of London's Conservative Societies and Conservative Future are to host their Christmas & Business Dinner at the East India Club, in their words 'on the eve of the Chancellor's Autumn statement'.
Nothing out of the ordinary there, but a glance at the menu tells a slightly uncomfortable story:
Menu:
Celeriac Velouté with Smoked Goose & Croûtons
Roast Norfolk Turkey with Chestnut & Orange Stuffing & Traditional Trimmings of Château Potatoes, Glazed Carrots & Brussels Sprouts
Steamed Plum Pudding with Vanilla Brandy Sauce
Filter Coffee & Festive Sweetmeats
2005 Claret and Bordeaux wines (included)
Dress code: Black-tie and dress
Drinks reception starts at 7pm.
Mmmm, all in this together.
