Note to Washington: STOP SPENDING

Having a series of numbers thrown at you can be an abstract experience for the brain. So there's nothing like a good graph to put things into context.

A pat on the back and a tip of the hat then to the Heritage Foundation for putting together this hair-raiser showing what the amount of debt per citizen will look like in 2036 if Washington fails to rein in spending.

As noted by Heritage's T. Elliot Gaiser, the current level of debt per citizen is slightly more than the cost of a brand new 2013 Ford Mustang FT. Disconcerting. But not as disconcerting as the 2036 figure which matches the cost of a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte with a Ferrari-built V8 engine. Vroom vroom; probably best to slow down though...
