Liberal Democrat MP doubles down as more information comes to light
Liberal Democrat MP David Ward has doubled down in his rhetoric against Israel, in what is becoming a sure-fire fight with his party
This morning The Commentator brought you the exclusive story about David Ward MP and his insensitive and intolerant comments about the Holocaust. After repudiations from his party, the Member of Parliament for Bradford East is doubling down on his statements, in what is looking more and more like a battle with his party over the issue.
Sources tell The Commentator that the whip is almost certainly to be withdrawn.
Ward has now said, in an attempt to channel Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel: “For my entire political career I have fought prejudice. I have just returned from Bradford’s Holocaust Memorial event where people across cultures and faiths joined together to say “We bear witness to the horrors of the Holocaust and will never forget its lessons.
In the words of the Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel, as quoted in the booklet ‘Holocaust Memorial Day – Learning Lessons from the past to create a safer, better future’: “I swore never to be silent whenever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
Harry's Place has discovered an interview with Ward from during the Israel-Hamas conflict last year where he stated, farcically, that, "If all the illegal settlements were vacated and the land given back there wouldn’t be any rocket attacks.”
