US journalist quizzed and followed by government security team
American journalist Jason Mattera was quizzed and followed by Mayor Bloomberg's security team after asking pressing questions
While in Britain, the freedom of the press is attacked by the Leveson inquiry, in the United States, a far more potent threat had a chance to rear its ugly head today.
Outside a conference in New York City, journalist Jason Mattera asked Mayor Michael Bloomberg a few inconvenient questions about gun control, when all of a sudden, Bloomberg's security team surrounded the Mayor, blocking out Mattera.
The guards then demanded identification and proceeded to quiz Mattera. After reluctantly complying and walking off, Mattera noticed he was being followed by Bloomberg's henchmen.
Ah, sweet journalistic freedoms.
