Celebrities + politics = EPIC FAIL (Roseanne Barr edition)

When celebrities attack... themselves... by being idiots... in public. It's funny...

Celebrity interjections into the world of politics are often underinformed, unnecessary, and largely unhelpful to debates around the key issues. I could cite a half dozen examples off the top of my head, which mainstream media outlets like the BBC continue to push through celebrity appearances on Question Time, etc.

The Left in particularly has a peculiar, though strategically understandable obsession with involving celebrities in their politics. The Huffington Post regularly recruits celebrity writers, as does The Guardian. After all, if your position is weak, what better way to convince the masses than with a preened Hollywood type?

This Twitter tete-a-tete (below) between one-time household name Roseanne Barr and a pro-Israel activist goes to show how hilarious these moments can be. But we won't hold it against her. After all, celebrities are humans. Just like us. And they make mistakes. Except they think they're above it. So maybe I will hold it against them.

Hat-tip to the IsraellyCool blog for this one:

there are 8 million jews in Israel-many of them are socialists who support equitable living conditions between themselves/Palestians. #GUSH
