Labour leader Ed Miliband has been heavily criticised for misleading the public after posing for a photo shoot in the smaller of his two kitchens at his £2million mansion in North London. But Miliband’s deception was exposed after the modest kitchen was revealed as a backroom pantry, much smaller than his luxury marble kitchen on the other side of his house.

Tory MP Nigel Adams said, “Red Ed can try as much as he likes to portray himself as a man of the people but the only people he’s in touch with are the North London metropolitan elite."

Steven George-Hilley, director of the Parliament Street think tank said, “One minute Ed Miliband is deceiving the British people over his secret deal with the SNP, the next he’s misleading the public about where he likes to indulge in a bacon sandwich.”

Political blogger Kate Baldwin defended Mr Miliband’s actions saying, “This is just a classic example of the Tory PR machine using media tactics to overshadow important issues in the election.”

Commenting on the revelations, Ed Miliband said, "I think Justine would probably say she wishes I’d spend more time in the kitchen. The house we bought had a kitchen downstairs when we bought it. And it is not the one we use. We use the small one upstairs."
