Let's face it. Rio Olympic success is down to Brexit

It's a Brexit medals fest for Britain in Rio. The next closest European nation, Germany, has a mere 26 medals, not far short of half the British total. And no wonder. How inspired can their athletes be knowing they're doing it all for Jean-Claude Drunker?

With 5 days still to go, Britain's Olympians have already scored their greatest ever overseas medals tally. Whatever happened to Britain being cut adrift in the world, as the absurdly pro-EU Financial Times put it, after the vote to leave the EU on June 23?

19 golds, 19 silvers, 12 bronzes: 50 medals in total. And every one of them is down to Brexit.

Brexit is pushing our sporting heroes to new heights, and that's even before we finally leave.

Imagine how much, in sport as in other spheres, Britain can achieve once we disembark the Titanic and make our vote for independence a reality.

There's a giant gold medal awaiting Britain just around the corner. Let's step up to the podium and grasp it as soon as we can.
