Classic cars are like Marmite – you either love them or you hate them!  Some people love the mechanical authenticity of a classic car.  No electronic gadgets and gizmos getting in the way, just pure metal-on-metal driving exhilaration.  For others, a classic car would be their idea of hell: a loud, expensive, polluting, unreliable throwback to a different time.

Nigel Farage is the classic car of British politics. His brand of boisterous laddish politics has resonated with many voters as was evidenced by the brutal defeat the Brexit Party inflicted on the main parties at the European Elections.  It goes without saying, therefore, that he’s not to everyone’s taste, but it seems that he has a place within British politics.

As the Conservative Leadership election rapidly draws to a close it raises the question of who should replace Sir Kim Darroch as Ambassador to the US?  Which loud-mouthed beer-swilling politically-astute reliably-right-wing Brexit-supporting Trump-ally might pop into mind?

It seems in Nigel Farage we might have found our man!
