One third of Brits delivering their neighbour’s uncollected parcels

New poll commissioned by iParcelBox reveals pass-the-parcel delivery woes including missed deliveries, damaged goods and parcel rage associated with online shopping surge

Over one third of Brits (37 per cent) have been forced to deliver a neighbour’s unclaimed parcel to their door in the last three months, despite the recipient receiving a ‘sorry we missed you’ card with collection details, according to a new poll of 2,000 consumers. The research, conducted by iParcelBox, the smart home parcel delivery solution, which can be monitored and controlled via smartphone app, sheds light on the extent to which missed parcel deliveries are causing an inconvenience for UK consumers.

A further 12 per cent have even refused to take a parcel for a neighbour when the postman/delivery driver asked them to take it. Half or respondents (52 per cent) admitted to ‘parcel rage’, saying they were furious at receiving a ‘sorry we missed you’ card on the doormat.

An additional 42 per cent said that shopping and parcel deliveries are often left in an inappropriate place and two in 10 (18 per cent) said their parcels were ruined by poor weather conditions such as rain. A further one quarter of Brits (27 per cent) confessed to taking time off work to wait for shopping and parcel deliveries. Meanwhile 13 per cent have had one of their parcel deliveries stolen because it was left outside their door whilst they were out. 3 per cent also admitted to throwing a neighbour’s parcel over a fence whilst another 3 per cent admitted they had kept a neighbour’s parcel and note given it back.
